(These are the same capabilities that make Word susceptible viruses.) In addition, when Microsoft releases Office 2008 later this year, it will be without VBA support, meaning most of the macros (and therefore reference software interoperability) will be lost. In addition, reference software interoperates with Word through its VBA and macro capabilities, something that is hardly basic. (And while many may think these are features that every "modern" word processor should have, I would argue that the "basic" feature list is something you can find in TextEdit or WordPad these two features are not basic.) Presently the only two I can think of are index/referencing and track changes. Just out of curiosity, which "basic Word features" does Mellel have problems interoperating with? Styles? Formatting? Non-troppo wrote:Anyway, the problems Mellel has with interoperating with basic Word features means I sadly will be forced away from using it, and thus Endnote will have a stay of execution on my machine while Word keeps lurching along. Maybe when we get Office 2008, EndNote developers will finally change their ways. I learn from the Mellel developers that EndNote’s architecture is quite antiquated and the EndNote folks are not willing to change that architectur to work with something more modern like Mellel. I have asked Mellel producers to see if they could work with the EndNote folks to create native compatibility like Microsoft Word does with EndNote. e=feedbackĪlso, I came across this in a response to a review of Mellel:Įndnote is only compatible with Mellel insofar as Endnote can read Mellel documents saved as RTF and who wants to deal with RTF!. There is more information in the Endnote help files under "Format Paper". Be sure and safe your exported, unformatted RTF file, however, because you cannot go back and change a paper once exported as RTF and "formatted" with EndNote. Then use the "Format Paper" command in EndNote to format. When ready to format, export the file from Mellel as an RTF file. When working with Mellel, for example, insert references via drag and drop (can't do Cite while you Write). GIS file, Page Layout file, Plugin file, Settings file, Spreadsheet, System file, Text, Web Format File & Misc file(doesn't fit in any other category) such as '.torrent'.Just a fellow user here, and one who is not an Endnote user and thus can only provide hints and not 'exact' directions:ĮndNote does work with Mellel (and any wordprocessor program that can export as RTF file)-although not as efficently as with WORD. Evaluates and classifies file type based on it's extension as Īudio,Video,Raster Image, Vector Image, 3D Image, Backup file, CAD file, RAW Camera file, Compressed, Data file, Developer file, Disk Image, eBook, Encoded, Executable, Font, Game file,
